True Foundation Church History

 

     Bishop James A. Jones accepted Christ in 1976 at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle under the Leadership and teachings of Pastor Harold Arrington. He served faithfully for 2 years, and was elevated to the ministry in 1978. In 1978, God led him to Trinity C.O.G.I.C. where the Pastor and Founder was Charles W. Nelson. As he began to work and labor in the Ministry, he was elevated to Assistant Pastor in 1980 where he served for 7 years.

 

     True Foundation Church was founded in June of 1987 by Bishop Jones and his wife, Co-Pastor Juanita Jones. Together they forged ahead with the vision of building God's kingdom on solid ground (1 Corinthians 3:9-11). True Foundation began to take on the attributes of its leaders. It soon became a place of prayer, fellowship and pure worship. The biblical principles of unwavering faith, diligence and obedience to the Word and Will of God began to affect the lives of its members. 

 

     Bishop and Co-Pastor set an excellent example of generosity and servitude in their fellowship with other churches, in the community and even toward their own members. With the love and support of its faithful and dedicated members, True Foundation began to grow in reputation and stature. As the church membership expanded, the Pastor’s vision of community outreach began to come to fruition.

 

     After years of faithful stewardship, True Foundation began Phase 1 of its Expansion Plan in 2005 by purchasing the local business next door. Soon after this purchase, True Foundation converted it into a facility that now houses our Youth Center annex, and is currently home to 2 churches.

 

     In June of 2007, Phase 2 was executed by purchasing and then renovating the adjacent property to nearly double the size of the sanctuary. This strategic move allowed True Foundation to realize a long held vision of owning nearly all real estate along 1 city block.

 

     In November of 2008, Pastor Jones was officially consecrated and installed as Bishop. He has served as Shepherd and Presiding Bishop over the True Foundation International Fellowship.

 

     On March 11, 2011, God elevated Co-Pastor Elder Juanita Jones to her highest position. He called her home. She and Bishop Jones shared 40 loving years of marriage together and shared the same vision for True Foundation Church. The two of them together built this church from their Faith.

 

     After 27 years of progress and accomplishment, we stand on the brink of another great moment as we prepare for the future ground breaking of True Foundation Church's state of the art Community Youth Center. This facility will provide jobs, recreation, exercise, counseling, mentoring, self-improvement classes and serve as a banquet facility.
